At The Crosswalk

A woman in a sleeveless dress
extends her arms out
in the wind, and with her eyes
behind her sunglasses
there is no way we can know
what she is looking at.

A student throws
a metal can
at a passing truck
taking a chip
out of the paint job,
but the traffic
runs too thick
and stops for nothing.

A lost kid hides
behind a sign
pointing the direction
of the library
somewhere back
there on the corner
and letโ€™s the light
change once again,
from green to red.
