I’m parked a block away
while downtown
you’re just picking up the pizza.
The party’s raging and I know
that I should be there,
but without you I am hopeless,
and the happy people
and overly loud music
are my kryptonite.
Although, I could use a cold beer
and a wooden porch
unsheltered from the starlight.
That would be just fine,
and you could sneak a pie away
and get drunk with me
like we used to,
while everyone else
just fades away behind us.
By now I’ve pretty much run out
of radio and cigarettes.
So, I guess I’ll see you when you get there.
You’re probably a few minutes behind,
but I am sure that you will find me
like you always do.
