Amused

Everything is fried
the food the wires and the people.
They wait in lines for roller coasters
where for a second they forget
what they spent to be on them
in the first place.

A mascot dressed as a gargoyle
collapses at the center of the park.
Inside the mask it is dark,
and when you’re in there
no one else can hear you scream.

A group of friends circles everything
on the map that gets people wet,
all in agreement that the sun
would never kill them.
At night the Ferris wheel
is like a calling card
begging to be visited,
but the people who show up
are not impressed.
