Six

Empty restaurant tables reflect
the sun back out the windows they
stand next to.

People walk by, in the heat, their thoughts
muted by the stagnant music carrying on
out of ancient speakers.

Fountains are decorated with sculptures
of half naked children. They have wings
though so it isn’t viewed as creepy.

People with long walks ahead of them
doze off on public benches, and become
just another surface to be painted on.

When they wake up they have circles
around their eyes that they notice
from their reflections in the water.

Killing birds for fun with plastic guns
and wiping the blood on their knuckles.
The trick is just to hold them in your mind.
