One day in the distant future
when every remaining form of life
is a planet sized collective consciousness.
They’ll be able to buy science kits at the
store for their kids, and they’ll come with
cheap microscopes that break
the second time they use them.
The experiment in the kit will be to grow
their own humans in a small environment,
synthesized in a vacuum. They’ll be able to
watch through their inexpensive eye pieces
and see how taking a few simple
steps can cause the dust in the unlabeled
pack to grow into a whole civilization; where
sad men and women eat grilled cheese
sandwiches by themselves in apartments
with peeling paint and wonder what it’s all
for.
