Marble Statues In The Mud

Life was a lie to them like lion roars, or explosions you could hear in outer space. The pattern of bricks in the wall were arranged into X shapes for the duration of the hallway. The chandeliers would swing in semi circles. Maids and waiters would do their jobs until dismissed then spend the night […]

Empty Screens

The concrete floors of alleys have puddles in the shapes of slanted chasms deep enough to stop you in your tracks. The passing trains screamed over the town, and all around their precious cargo carried messages from cities in the South. She pierced holes around her mouth and in them placed her jewels as black […]

Thoughtless

She wraps the loose string from her sleeve around her finger, and as it tightens she remembers all the sounds. The raining glass from shattered streetlights overblown with power from the place up on the hill with all the wires. Cables like snake heads growing from snake heads. Hissing at the sky all their spitting […]

Consummation

Potholes so deep they pulled whole cars into hell were weaved between by those who payed attention. Late night laundromat bulletin boards get vandalized or filled up with empty offers. A woman washed her shirt and watched it spin in just her bra, and was the only reason a young boy looked up from his […]

Macro

The rate at which the world becomes artificial is getting faster, and that leads me to believe we could be just before the edge of something real. Copper wires, cords, and steel brought to us in piles while the ones who paid just raid the pockets of the crowd that put it all together. Her […]

Town

This town is like a spider-web holding people still, thriving off the energy of frantic dreams. There’s no where left to forage or to live alone at peace they are all forced into corrals built for the fearful. Rain catches made from plastic bags hang between car windows and side mirrors and bring the water […]

Audience

She sticks a camera lens out the window to help her remember all the things we pass by on this drive to the other side. Flocks of sheep, and cattle flicking insects with their tails we lean against the rails, and count the lights we see. A moldy gas station in the middle of the […]

Trying To Fit In Somewhere

A creature made of pure imagination creates itself with every single thought. It shifts so rapidly in its indecisive youth that it takes upon itself the shape of a storm that’s far too close to look at. In the forest it becomes a walking sapling that can hold water very loosely in its branch like […]

Kindergarten

They’ve always known you have to get them young. Put them into boxes with each other, and watch it all play out. Keep count of who plays along the most with red ink. It is either a stand in for your own blood, or a simple mark of those who are anointed. The windows are […]

Runway

A pilot watched the flight attendants dance through the window in the door. They tried to keep their spirits up when the flights were long and there were few stops in between. Their trip would now be ending soon, the vertical lights marked the long dark road that was made for them. He aimed the […]
